Yeah, me too! Dick Sargent's Darrin was always so angry... I read somewhere that even HE didn't like his portrayal of Darrin when he would watch the show.
Gosh, you're right, and I never even thought about that, but that's exactly the message that the viewers would have gotten if they had done that.
Thought so... but who can compare to Larry? His portrayal was perfect... he knew that character so well... come to think of it they all knew their characters, and they all portrayed them wonderfully!

I didn't know that before. Thanks for sharing that tidbit with us! Yeah. Which is why we're so lucky that the powers that be at the time had more sense than to let Larry go, which is what the producers had wanted to do. Yeah, that was a large factor in what made IDOJ so successful and enjoyable to watch! They were all perfect in their portrayls... Barbara Eden's Jeannie, Larry Hagman's Tony, Bill Daily's Roger, Hayden Rorke's Dr. Bellows. They really had a rare chemistry together that enhanced the series a lot.

I know! You'd think he would have changed his approach to the character if he was so upset with it!
Absolutely! Rarely do you see a cast (especially in today's TV) that works so well together... they had such a great ensemble in each other. And they were all perfect for their roles. I can really only compare them to "I Love Lucy" in their brilliance as an ensemble, and I think they're really underrated as a group!

I know! You'd think he would have changed his approach to the character if he was so upset with it! Yeah. Maybe by the time he realized he didn't like the way he was portraying Darrin, it was too late to fix? I mean, it would've been weird to see the angry Darrin suddenly have a complete personality change! Yeah, definitely. On Larry King Live, Larry asked what they thought made IDOJ work, and Barbara said it was the chemistry they had with each other. Larry said something along the lines of, "But lots of shows have great chemistry, and don't work." However, I agree that they had something rare, the degree to which they were each perfect for their roles. That is something that is truly rare. Rare back then and rarer today. Unfortunately.

Yeah, I was actually thinking of that episode when I posted that last comment. I disagreed with Larry when he said that a lot of shows' actors have great chemistry... IDOJ was something very special.

I agree completely. I disagree with Larry King's statement there too - I guess it could be true, depending on how you define "great chemistry"... but IDOJ was definitely special. Whether you call that chemistry, or something else, it had something - a spark - that a lot of other shows didn't have.

When is season five coming out? I wish I could answer your question jeannietonyfan, but unlike you genie's I have not seen any episodes of IDOJ season five yet =[ I have seasons 1-4 though. But I have read summary's and recaps of "Guess who's going to be a bride" Part one and two. I hear that they are very good. So my favorite Jeannie and Tony moment has to be that!

Hi jeannietonyfan. I am probably the youngest girl here. How old are you? I was about 14 or 15 when I first starting watching IDOJ (I'm 19 now).
