When I was watching the pilot episode and it got to the end of the show, Tony went into his room and then Jeannie dissolved into smoke and went under his bedroom door, what do you think she did? What do you think happened? Tony was yelling at her from inside the bedroom with the doors closed and then Jeannie came out with a grin on her face, then she blinked and the show was over. What do you think she did? I think it was meant to tease us. Please give me your opinions. I loved that episode. ;D

Oh geez I think it's probably up to the viewer to decide! But I think it's just to tease us too.

With a lot of sitcoms it can take a while for the show to get going. Thus I've found that a lot of pilots tend to be below par and later episodes are better as the writers and actors get used to the idea. Not so with 'Jeannie' as I thought 'The Lady In The Bottle' was excellent, near faultless and really set the tone for the rest of the series. It's definitely one of my favourite episodes. The smoke under the door is actually quite a pivotal scene. Jeannie's just kissed Tony, he's reluctant at first but then relented and kissed her back. He's then rallied himself and pushed her away before shutting the bedroom door in her face. Jeannie wants to take things further so magicks herself into Tony's room. We hear Tony loudly and firmly say "Oh no you don't. Out! Out!" The whole scene if you think about it sums up the Jeannie/Tony relationship perfectly - at least the relationship they have in the first season: Tony is OK to kiss Jeannie from time to time but isn't prepared to take things any further. As to what happened in the bedroom when Jeannie smoked herself in, I think we can guess! As I've said above, Jeannie definitely wanted to take things further but respected Tony's decision when he told her no. But I always like to believe that Jeannie was able to get a quick kiss in before Tony threw her out.

Yes, This was a great scene! ;D It was meant to lead us on and draw us in. This was a reshoot. The scene was supposed to end with Jeannie in Tony's bedroom. This got Mr Sheldon in some trouble and it was reshot with Tony tell ing Jeannie to get out and then her smoke coming back out under the bedroom door. I think it was a perfect ending. ;D

As much as I'd have liked that ending, I think that they would have had trouble setting the tone for the rest of the series. I mean, how would you move forward from something like that? Surely any sexual tension would now be gone. The rest of the series would be like one long morning after - awkward and not particularly funny. Would also complicate the relationship considerably between Jeannie and Tony if that was the pattern of things - Tony continuing to see other women while sleeping with Jeannie. OK, so he continues to see other women while sharing passionate kisses with Jeannie which isn't great but it never feels like he's using her (as he would be if things got more serious than this). The reshot ending definitely draws you in as it summarised so perfectly the relationship: Jeannie completely in love with Tony and constantly pursuing him, Tony resisting even though deep down he's equally attracted to her but refusing to relinquish control.

I think you are letting you imaginations run wild! The thing with the smoke under the door...Jeannie probably went in to try and get another kiss out of him. And Tony got mad and shooed her out. Plus he was probably changing!!!!
