Hi Folks,
Since these are only about 25 minutes long, it's easy to get through about three eppy's in the evenings after dinner. So, just in recent days I've gone thru 12 eppy's. As I mentioned in my newbie note when I joined some days ago, I haven't seen these for 30-35 years back in the 70's in re-run. I don't think I watched this at all in the 60's. I was born in October of '62, and I think I was in bed at 8pm at that early age.
I watched some web videos and Barbara said on the Larry King reunion that this show was on a different night for each of the 5 years. What nights and at what times was it on for each year ?
I noticed in the early eppy's that Tony was more guarded about Jeannie, didn't know her yet, but now in recent eppy's like 10-12, he shows care for her, worries about her, gives her a kiss. I think the affection is starting to show, which is nice, and I'm sure that will grow as the eppy's go on. I got a kick out of the eppy 11 with Billy Mumy. I'm betting those upcoming with well known guest stars will be a kick. It was cute in eppy 12 where Tony was worried about her going out with men and wanted to protect her and make sure she was alright. Again, just starting to show that in these eppy's. In the beginning, he was trying to be the real guarded person, embarrassed if she put her arms around him, didn't want to get involved, kind of running away from her. As with anyone, takes time ! It's a kick to see this transformation. Watching these eppy's 3 at a time, it's noticeable faster.
Eppy 6 was the first time I think I saw Tony in something other than the uniform or dress pants with tie. He was in shorts on the yacht. Of course, we see him in space suits, or other clothes for tests with Dr. Bellows, but with all that heat in Florida, they sure are dressed up all the time. There are some eppy's where he's in the tan pants and tan open collared shirt, more casual uniform.
Eppy 10 was a kick seeing them talk about a system that removes salt from salt water. Naturally, Navy ships do that all the time now. Overall, it's really not dated. The uniforms, clean hair cuts, like military today. The cars are the only real difference that stands out. They are great. Tony has a great navy blue convertible GTO muscle car. Dr. Bellows seems to have this yellow mustard color car, but couldn't make out the type. Hayden Rorke is perfect in this role. He has some great scenes with Tony, and the scenes with Billy Mumy were funny, too.
At the rate I'm watching them, about 3 each night, it takes about 10 days to blow thru a DVD set, which means about a month to get thru all 3 DVD's available right now.
Anybody know when season 4 and 5 will be coming out ? They were lining up with the Dallas season releases, and the next season of Dallas is out end of July this year.
