I've recently purchased the colorised version of season 1. (Personally I don't have a problem with the colorisation, I think they've done a great job though I know some disagree).
But anyway, when I saw episode 2 a few years ago, I could have sworn that Jeannie actually reversed or changed time to stop Roger from seeing Tony in concrete (only his head showing).
However, on the DVD, it just shows Jeannie freezing him and saying that he won't remember anything.
I was sure there was some conversation about Jeannie being able to reverse time in the original version I saw a few years ago.
Have I just imagined it, or have they perhaps cut that bit out for continuity purposes, to avoid explaining why she didn't use the same technique later to get out of other scrapes?

I'm not sure if it was actually in that episode... but I do remember a scene in one of the black and white episodes where Roger saw something, and Jeannie freezed him and she fixed whatever problem was happening. Tony asked her what she was going to do with Roger to which she replied "Oh, do not worry Master, he will remember none of this." Tony began to argue with her but she vanishes, Roger unfreezes and makes a comment like "What are you doin' standing there? We're gonna be late?"
So, you didn't imagine it, and it could very well be from this episode, however I can't be 100% sure.

Yes, that's the episode, but I was sure when I first saw it that time reversal was mentioned...oh well...

If it was indeed cut out (I don't remember either way), it probably was not out of continuity concerns: another (slightly later) Season 1 episode - the one where Roger steals Jeannie and works her to the bone - has Tony explicitly explain to Roger how Jeannie just solved his problem, by rewinding time. My guess is that the rewinding time trick has severe limitations on it, such as number of times it could be used, or number of people that would be affected by it, which is why it was not used more frequently. An easier explanation why the time rewinding trick wasn't used more frequently is that it's the ultimate cop-out; if it was used all the time, there wouldn't be a series at all, since Tony and Roger would never have to fear the consequences of Jeannie's magical mayhem - just rewind time and do it over again without the hokey pokey.

I think that episode you just mentioned (1.17) is probably where I saw mention of time reversal but I had gotten the two episodes mixed up.

Yup, that's probably it. Glad I was able to help. I think a lot of similar things with other people who think things were cut out, were actually due to them mis-remembering where certain lines were said (i.e. which episodes certain lines were said in). It's not an uncommon occurrence and it's completely understandable given how long ago many people last saw the IDOJ episodes.

Hmmm.... In season 3 "Meet my master's mother" it's like they cut the part where she bangs the drumbs! I was very upset.
