Let's talk about a season one episode that everyone may have seen by now since season one is available on DVD...what are your thoughts on this particular episode?

You know there are a few scenes in that episode I really love and others I really hate such as the one where Tony and Jeannie are at the restaurant..when Tony sees Jeannie in that blue dress, that's a wonderful moment...also sweet how he talks to her when she's in the bottle at end of the episode.

I love the bit when Tony's yelling at Jeannie for buying all the stuff but his anger is forgotten the moment that Jeannie blinks herself into the blue dress. It's the first time he's seen her in anything other than her harem costume and he's stunned at how beautiful she looks. (Love the exchanges - J: Then I may keep the gown? T: Was it...*very* expensive? J: Insanely. T: You may keep the insanely.) And when she kisses him and he says "You didn't learn *that* from any magazine." It's a really sexy moment between the two of them.

Indeed, I absolutely love that scene. Barbara and Larry played that scene very well with so much emotion. Barbara once said that how they act and what we see is real and it certainly looks real. I love the kiss. We talked here on this forum how most of the kisses just don't look right somehow, that one is really really sweet and both are into it and seem to enjoy it. Very good episode, love the tag.

One of the best episodes in season 1 with lots of cute scenes. Especially the scene where she wears that insanely expensive dress ^^

You know, I reckon there's a continuity error with this episode. Towards the beginning, Tony is telling Jeannie he can't take her for a drive because of what people will say if they see her in her harem costume. Jeannie starts asking him how she should dress and acting really ignorant about how modern women dress - as evidenced when she blinks herself into the same outfit that Tony is wearing. And then later when Tony sees her in the 'insanely' expensive gown, he acts like he's never seen her in anything other than her harem costume. But Jeannie has worn normal clothes before, in both 'G.I. Jeannie' and 'The Yacht Murder Case'. OK, so Tony could be reacting to how nice the dress is, but the fact that he says, "Jeannie, you're beautiful!" it's definitely like he's seeing her for the first time, and the fact that Jeannie appeared completely ignorant at the beginning of how she should dress reiterates this.
Maybe they messed with the order of the episodes or something.

Yeah interesting theory...I believe Tony was just referring to the beautiful dress she was wearing at that time not that he's never seen her before in another outfit...just not that... ...I guess it was the right timing..first he comes home and finds her in that horrible outfit then she blinks herself into the insanely expensive dress...it was a magic moment though and they ended it with a good kiss

It's not one of my favourite episodes.

And why is that, Rusty Master? Well, you didn't think we'd take a statement just like that... Oh yes, welcome to the forum.

I just didn't think it was as madcap and funny as other episodes.
BTW, that's the last episode I've seen to-date. I try to pace myself with DVDs. So I've only finished the first of the four-DVD set.
Not sure when I'll watch episode 9...

This was a great episode. It touched on a big social issue of the time (1965): the independant, liberated woman. The restaurant and appliance store scenes was hilarious. This episode also showed Barbara Eden's mid-60's style beauty. I loved her looks in the appliance store. An interesting note in this episode: In the opening scene at the appliance store she greets two shoppers with "Allah be with you." I wonder what kind of reaction the networks would receive if this ran today on TV. The ayatolahs would probably issue a fatwa on her.
