Similarities with 'Enchanted'?

Hi. Did anyone else who's seen the film 'Enchanted' think that there were a lot of similarities with that and 'I Dream of Jeannie'? I watched that film recently and felt that the character of Robert (Patrick Dempsey) and the way that he behaves towards Giselle (Amy Adams) was very similar to that of Tony and Jeannie? Watching Robert and the way he acts I kept being reminded of Tony. It's difficult to give a specific example but it's more his general mannerisms - both characters are very down to earth, always practical, logical and common-sensical, even a little neurotic at times. When Robert and Tony each find themselves faced with the magical, the impossible or even the romantic they are both very uncomfortable as they are outside the parameters of their comfort zone. And like Tony with Jeannie, Robert is attracted to Giselle almost grudgingly and fights the attraction even when he knows it's fruitless to resist. Meanwhile, like Jeannie, Giselle is optimistic, romantic, magical and emotional - they embrace these qualities as much as Tony/Robert push them away.

Oh, and if you haven't seen 'Enchanted' I recommend it. It's very funny.

Yes I too have seen "Enchanted" but I do not entirely agree with you. But yes there are some similarities, I have to admit.

For example Robert is engaged to that girl (I forgot her name) and in I dream of Jeannie Tony is a engaged to Melissa. So I guess there are 1 or 2 similarities.
