Here's something that's been bothering me for a while. Maybe someone here can tell if I'm forgetting any detail or info that was given on the show. Here's the question:
We were told that Jeannie was turned into a genie when she refused to marry the Blue Djinn, who also locked her on a bottle. That leads me to believe that Jeannie was originally a regular human person, from a regular human family. Then, how do we explain that Jeannie's sister is also a genie? And why Jeannie's nephew Abdullah has powers too (leading us to believe that Jeannie's brother is also a genie)? And many other examples we could pick up from the show. That all means, for me, that Jeannie was born a genie, and comes from a family with "genie genes". But it's inconsistent with the the Blue Djinn story. Am I missing something here? Is there an explanation?

Msaybe.
Perhaps Jeannie's mother marrieda mortal and had two children, pink Jeannie and green Jeannie. Pink Jeannie was mortal, Green Jeannie was a genie. Then Blue Ginn fals in love with Pink Jeannie, Pink Jeannie refuses and in revege he turns her into one and traps her in the bottle from which Captin Anthony Nelson releases her afterward.

Well, like in most television shows. The creator of I dream of Jeannie wrote the scripts for seasons 1-2 but than other people started writing scripts. Take the episode "The Birds and Bees Bit" from season two. Major Nelson discovers that a genie loses all of her powers after marrying a mortal. But in season five when their real wedding takes place. Jeannie does not lose all of her powers. So like I said in most series of television shows, stories and theories change. Sort of like in the show "The Simpsons" in season four Homer and Marge say that they met when they were l kids around the age of 13 or 12 at a camp. But in season five Homer and Marge say that they met in High School. So like I said it all depends who wrote the scripts.

Do genies (djinn) have belly buttons? The network may have been proactive in removing Barbara's navel, but. Maybe genies don't have navel anyway?

Genie's and Djinn's have navels. It's just NBC forbidded Barbara Eden to show off her Belly Button.

This is a very interesting question ... Actually there are some inconsistencies in the plot, like the fact that Jeannie couldn't be filmed or photographed and this happened in the episode The Biggest Star in Hollywood.
