Yes, exactly! I think I talked about that scene on the other board and I had wanted to mention it here too. It's such a great moment, and the fact that Tony is still so very much Tony when he says it makes it all the more real. I love how she thinks he's going out and then he knocks at the door and then gives that lovely speech... so great! Didn't they recycle this scene in a Season 4 episode? I seem to remember part of it being the same in a later episode, but I may be wrong. Absolutely! He's terrific in that too! Those facial expressions that he made made his character so much more human, and not just a strict General, and I think that's what made his character so endearing. Yeah, I agree. I don't think the cast even gave him enough credit. I wonder what he was like in real life? He had had quite a career as a character actor in movies before IDOJ, and apparently was frequently cast as the villain!

They very might well have recycled it in a Season 4 episode, after all they do recycle plots all the time - such as the amnesia arc, first with Tony and then with Jeannie. And of course they recycle a lot of the 'flying','launch', and 'landing' footage all the time. Absolutely. He was seen as sort of a fatherly figure to Tony, and not just as a stern, mean old General, which is why his character was so likable. Yeah. Larry did give Hayden a lot of credit but I don't think any of the cast really gave Barton that much credit. Wish he'd gone on and lived longer [after IDOJ]... might have given us more clues to his RL personality!

Yep, I think that's what made him so likeable too! Yeah. I wish that the whole cast had lived long enough that we could have seen them ALL in an interview... Barbara, Larry, Bill, Hayden, Emmaline, and Barton. That would have been fantastic to see!

I agree! It's a darn shame we didn't get to see more of the rest of the main cast.

Barbara Eden plays the part of Jeannie so perfectly...I love the series to death!! Jeannie is so awesome... It's one of those shows where you just never wanna stop watching 'coz you have to see what happens next...It's so exciting and such a laugh..It's funny when Tony Nelson gets jealous 'coz Jeannie says she's going on a date or something...I am totally re-modelling my bedroom to look like Jeannie's bottle...It would be awesome to meet Barbara Eden for real, no matter how old she is...It's such a shame that the show had to end but I soppose every show has to end at some stage doesn't it...

First-time poster.... Dr. Bellows is not only my favorite Jeannie character but probably my favorite character on ANY comedy series. His constant state of disbelief and befuddlement were played perfectly by Hayden Rorke. The poor guy was so pathetically hapless but he had that bulldog determination to find out Major Nelson's secret. At one point he even tells Major Nelson that he's dedicated his career to finding out what makes Major Nelson tick, another time he produces a thick book on all the strange things he's seen around Major Nelson!! But to me probably the most amazing and hilarious Dr. Bellows moment was the scene in "Anybody Here Seen Jeannie?" when Dr. Bellows eats (or tries to) a sandwich and drink a cup of coffee. Jeannie blinks the cup empty every time he tries to drink the coffee, and makes the sandwich whole again after he's taken a bite. After 30 years I still laugh at that as hard as I did the first time I saw it. And of course Dr. Bellows had his own music..... dadadadadadada...DA!DA! Whenever you heard that music you knew Jeannie and Tony were about to get the best of poor Dr. Bellows...again. What great comedy relief! What a character!!

Love your post Scott! I love that scene with the sandwich and coffee. And I know exactly what music you're talking about... it's like the "Doctor Bellows" theme! hee hee... Hayden Rorke really did great things with that character... I love him more and more as I keep rewatching the show. He was brilliant.

Omg. It's Jeannie and Jeannie's sister, Jeannie II. So it's Barbara Eden
I love the music they use when Jeanne II is around. And her voice it's histerical! (Sorry for spelling)
Jeannie and Jeannie II are so full of life! I love it when they both get at eachother and fight over Major Nelson. <3
Goodbye...Dawlings...!!!! lol =]

The most I like Jeannie of course. She is the main reason that I became fan of this show. She is so beautiful and funny. I know that this was at the same time as Bewitched which I never watched except new movie version with Nicole Kidman but I'm sure that Jeannie is two times better than that

Hello! I'm new to this site but I have always been a fan of IDOJ especially Barbara Eden. Having the entire IDOJ DVD collection allows me to take in all the details of the series that I missed when I watched them originally on TV. My favorite character of course is Jeannie and her evil twin sister. Eden's talent is really on display when she plays both characters. It seems that two different actresses are involved. Till this day there has never been a sitcom that comes close to IDOJ and no celebrity can match the beauty, class, and elegance of Barbara Eden.

Actually, I loved all the characters.
But my favorites are Jeannie and Major Nelson.
