Hi! I've just joined this forum. I've been a fan of the show for over 35 years. A subject I thought I'd bring up. I remember back in the 70's, some feminists claimed that I DREAM OF JEANNIE is sexist. After all, Major Nelson keeps her in a bottle, forces her to grant all his wishes, is embarassed by her--and refuses to marry her! In a sense, she's his virtual slave. But hold on, a moment! Yes, she does grant his wishes--but not the way he wants her too! She's constantly getting him into trouble. She nearly gets him fired in just about every episode. She's extremly jealous, and can very quickly go into a rage over the slightest thing. And despite all this, she causes him to fall in love with her, and he does eventually marry her! Hope to hear all your thoughts on this.

This is old but I saw Nickelodeon film this commercial at my college in the Bronx 20 years ago. At the time, I did not know what they were doing. Maybe I would have done something about it then.

Not at all. It's very clear that Jeannie wears the pants in the relationship.
