I have a question about this episode. Why is the first season music played in this second season episode? And why is her "blink" sound for season one heard in this one? Was it shot earlier on in the second season and then aired later and so they were still using some "season one aspects" of the show? This could be an explanation, because Barbara's hair is short in this episode, and from Season 2-5, her hair was almost always long. Also, it looks like it's still the season one set of Tony's house in this episode. Does anyone have an explanation for these oddities of this episode? Thanks!

Hello Everbody,
Newbie here! I have another question about this episode as well. At the bank there is a elder lady trying to get a loan. The banker then asks for her to list her securities which she then replies she doesn't have any. Then the camera goes back to the banker and he says something but it has been edited out! What did he say? Why did they edited it out? I've also got a episode that I recorded from tv in the 80's that plays a song on the radio that is different from the one released on DVD.

Hi there! Yes, I noticed the banker's line being edited out... I don't think it would have been because of WHAT he said... maybe it was a careless editing mistake when the DVD people put this together? I forget what he said... it has been a while since I've seen this on TV. A lot of people on the board have mentioned discrepancies with the music on the Season 2 DVD. I have no idea why this would be... very odd indeed!

This episode appears to be season 1 style, becuase it was actually filmed along with (or very close to) the other season 1 episodes, just in colour. Jeannie Breaks the Bank and Fastest Guns in the East were actually the first colour episodes made. However, they appear later in the season because back in those days TV stations payed little attention to sequential order of episodes. You'll notice that season 2 is one big jumbled mess. Tony makes several refrences to past events in episodes, however because the episodes are out of order he is actually refering to future events???!!! Very strange...maybe he is a genie too ;D Anyway, it's a bit sad that after 40 years no one has bothered fxing the error and placed the episodes in their intended order.

OK thanks for the info! I knew that The Fastest Gun in the East was the first colour episode made, but I didn't know about this one. I have noticed the sequential errors... but the one that bothers me the most is in Season 5 when they aired My Master the Chili King first instead of Hurricane Jeannie. Anytime I watch Season 5 I always watch Hurricane Jeannie last because it is quite a lovely episode... such a shame it didn't end up airing last. Has anyone actually arranged the order of Season 2 into the order it's supposed to be by using Tony's "errors" as a guideline?

Hi,
Maybe it was careless editing. I didn't know but I was sure curious! If I ever see it on TV I'm sure going to be listening - lol. The different songs may be a result of Sony being unable to secure the rights to certain songs that was used back then? Probably nobody ever thought of DVD's or VHS tapes back then so maybe some of the artists have some rights?

I have come to what I think is close to the actual order, using books, references and Jeannie's smoke:) Yeah, that's right, Jeannie's smoke evolved over season 2, so it can also be used as a guide. I can't remember what the actual order is off the top of my head, but I'll look at my season 2 set later and suggest my order. Btw, Hurricane Jeannie was originally planned to be the last episode where doctor bellows finds out about Jeannie for real. However, because the netowrk never played episodes in order (just what we have been talking about) they decided to make it a 'dream' sequence just in case they aired in incorrect order, and guess what...they did!

That's interesting that they were actually going to have Dr. Bellows find out about Jeannie... where did you hear that this was the case? I think that would have made a great final episode, even though that episode as it is is one of my very favourites.

I read it in a book about the show. You can still see that this was intended to be the final episode, the whole thing is set up as a good bye. The only thing is they cound't have Dr Bellows really find out about Jeannie because if they played this episode earlier (as the idiots did) then it would have lead to inconsistencies.

Is it in Steve Cox's "Dreaming of Jeannie" that you read it? Because I remember reading in that book that it was intended to be the final episode, but I don't remember that the original intention was to actually have Dr. Bellows find out... maybe I missed that!

I had a look at my book again, and I though it said it in the episode section, but couldn't find it. I must have read to else were, if only I could remember where . But I'm sure it was in that book.

All three DVD sets are not edited very well. The laugh track is sometimes louder than the actual dialouge, adn some dialogue is missing on several eps. I'm kind of ticked off with the mistakes. There should not be mistakes like that in my opinion.

It's like the people putting the DVD's together don't care about making mistakes and since it's an older show they don't give a darn. Jeannie should have the same attention on DVD that any other TV show does... it's one of the greatest TV shows in history for crying out loud!
