Hi Everyone! My name is Jennifer and I’m working on a brand new television series called “Fanatical†about TV fans. I’m researching an episode on I Dream of Jeannie, and I’m posting here in the hopes of getting in touch with some big fans of the program who may be interested in participating in our series. Here’s a little about our show: “Fanatical†is a 26 part documentary series which explores popular TV shows through the eyes of fans. Each episode focuses on a different show - everything from Buffy the Vampire Slayer to The Simpsons, and of course I Dream of Jeannie - and will feature 2-3 fans of the program from Canada and the US. The series will unearth: why the fans love the show, how watching the show and collecting memorabilia makes them feel, what their friends and family think of their love for the show, and the culture of their particular fandom. “Fanatical†is currently airing in Canada on TVtropolis, Tuesdays at 7 pm and 11:30 pm ET/PT. More information about our series and clips from already aired episodes can be found at our website at www.fanatical.tv/ If you’re interested in participating or may be able to offer assistance please drop me a line at jennifer@peacepoint.tv I look forward to hearing from you! Jennifer

Okay, if anyone does this, please just be respectful of the show, and the cast, and don't make us fans out to be freaks. That's all I have to say about that!

I've seen the show Fanatical and some of the people they have on there make me think like I'm not worthy of being called a TV fan... I mean, these people are FANS!!! I saw an episode of people who love Bewitched... one person has made a Bewitched room where they've painted the room in the Bewitched cartoon like in the opening credits and have practically EVERY collectible imaginable, and he says he would eventually like to build and live in the Bewitched house! And he doesn't think it's weird because he says he knows people who have done the same thing with The Munsters house... oh boy! He also hosts a Bewitched convention in Salem, Mass. each year... which I must admit, might be a fun thing to attend. But some of these people are such fans that their entire LIVES are dedicated to their favourite TV show. I would actually like to do the show to show that IDOJ fans aren't crazy, but I don't have a room dedicated to IDOJ or dedicate my life to it... and usually that is the kind of fan they look at on the show. But I must admit, I like the show Fanatical and it is very amusing to watch.

I like to think of myself as a fan of a few TV shows but compared to some of the fans out there, relatively speaking, I'd barely classify as a casual viewer! I mean, in my office on campus, one of my decorations on the wall is a little note-sized IDOJ picture (featuring Larry, Barbara, Bill, and Hayden, a cartoon rendering of Jeannie's bottle, and the words "I Dream of Jeannie" in Jeannie-font) that I downloaded off the 'Net. But, that's it... I'd certainly never try and recreate the IDOJ house or paint a room like IDOJ!

I'd say that two possibilities for this show could be Patterson (the webmaster of this site) and also Sue-Anne Webster (The I Dream of Jeannie look-a-like). I've seen a video of her doing a Jeannie magic act in her jeannie outfit...

I've seen a video of her doing a Jeannie magic act in her jeannie outfit... Patterson I agree with. He'd definitely be a good choice. (By the by, did you see Patterson in MTV's Room Raiders?) I also have seen a video of Sue-Anne Webster's Jeannie magic act, and it was quite good, but I don't know how much of a "typical fan" she is... maybe she's not quite the kind of fan Jennifer is looking for. But then again, who knows?

Yes, Patterson would be a great choice!
From what I've seen of the show, you are right Subspace, they are looking more for the typical viewer, not someone who almost makes a living as "Jeannie" like Sue-Anne does with her magic act. But, you are right, you never know!

Yes, Patterson would be a great choice! Yup! But then remember he is kind of affiliated with Sony as he works on the IDOJ DVDs... but I think he should still qualify! But, you are right, you never know! Yeah. I think it might make an interesting twist to have Sue-Anne if she's willing, actually. But - guess we'll see!

Yup! But then remember he is kind of affiliated with Sony as he works on the IDOJ DVDs... but I think he should still qualify! Yeah that's true... but he'd probably have a lot of great IDOJ trivia to share with the viewing audience of the show!

You guys are way too kind.. I was asked to be on the show but the fact is, I'm not a fanatic about I Dream of Jeannie. I told her when I was in my teens, my walls were covered with Barbara Eden articles and Jeannie photos. Now, if you were to look around in my office or room you'd see a mixture from Jeannie, to Wonder Woman, to Elvira, The Munsters... etc. I'm not completely dedicated to Jeannie. I think the only thing I might actually admit to is that some day when I have the money, I'll build the Nelson home as a summer home in florida. I have blueprints and such that I could do it with. But that's just because I love that house. So I' turned down the show because I'm not nearly fanatical enough to be on it... I watched some of the epsiodes and I don't measure up to that stuff.
Thanks for the support though guys! -P

I haven't posted in ages, so I thought I'd drop by again and say hi. Patterson I can see why you wouldn't want to be on the show, even if you know a lot about the show. I'm sure you would be a good candidate to memorize lines from each episode though, don't you think? . I don't know if there is a Jeannie fan who is a real fanatic, I'm sure there is. If you think that what you have is not enough Patterson you should see what I have...hmm...the DVDs, a bottle...no Jeannie costume, no 8x10s or Jeannie toys...

Oh my gosh, you have the blueprints for the house? That is so cool! I love the layout of their house... it would be so fun to be able to actually live in it!

C'mon Patterson! If you have the blueprints to their house and hope to eventually build it, you MOST DEFINITELY qualify. It's ok if you're a fan of other shows too. This doesn't have to be the ONLY show you like...
Unless they're able to find a bigger fan, I think you should do it. But it's totally up to you though...
