Well, I was thinking that we do have a Proboards forum to talk in, right now, but it might not be a bad idea to have an IRC chat channel just for us (i.e. patrons of IDreamOfJeannie.com), to chat and discuss in real-time. I'm checking to see if there's interest. So please vote!
If there is, I would need to get Patterson's blessing on it too, so I hope to hear from her also. I could and would be willing to set up all the necessary things, and would run the channel, so Patterson wouldn't need to invest effort in it.
Thoughts?

Maybe, but I'm happy with just the message board too!

Thanks! Since I had some time anyway, I decided to go ahead and make a channel. The I Dream Of Jeannie . Com Chat & Discussion Channel is now located at irc://irc.frozenonline.com/IDOJ. To access the channel, you will need to have an IRC client. You can't simply type "irc://irc.frozenonline.com/IDOJ" into your Internet browser and access it that way. For those of us who don't already have an IRC client, I recommend the following quick and easy options. For anyone who has the Mozilla Firefox browser, it's a snap to install ChatZilla, an IRC client that is basically a free extension to Firefox that takes less than a minute to install. Here's the link: www.mozilla.org/projects/rt-messaging/chatzilla/It's simple to install and even easier to use. It's fully functional too! Once you have ChatZilla, you will be able to access the #IDOJ IRC chat channel, and any other IRC chat channel too. And best of all, did I mention free?!? For those of us who don't have the Mozilla Firefox browser, you may want to consider installing the Firefox browser (an excellent Internet browser which has many advantages over Internet Explorer) - and then you'll be able to get ChatZilla. If you would rather not do that, though, popular IRC clients include mIRC for PC users (http://www.mirc.com/get.html) and Babbel IRC for Mac users (http://www.babbelirc.com/index.lasso?go=download). (Babbel IRC is also available for PC users.) But keep in mind that, after an initial (30-day I think) trial period you'll have to pay to legally keep using these clients. I'll be making an FAQ post shortly on useful commands to know once you're in our very own IRC channel. The FAQ will include things like what command to use to register your nickname. In the meantime, looking forward to seeing you guys there! Remember, use of the IRC channel is completely optional, and registration there is by no means mandatory, but keep it in mind as a potentially valuable resource!

If you visit the #IDOJ channel (irc://irc.frozenonline.com/IDOJ), please register. This is analogous in principle to creating an account (i.e. registering) here on this forum. But registration there is much simpler. Once you're in the channel, first make sure you have the nickname you want to use. To change your nickname type the following: /nick <nickname>Where you replace <nickname> with the nickname of your choice. Keep in mind there are no spaces allowed in nicknames. So in my case I decided to use a nickname of ACE_Albert. So I typed: /nick ACE_AlbertEasy enough, right? Now that you have your desired nickname, simply type the following to register your nickname. /msg nickserv register password emailWhere you replace password with a password of your choice (it could be the same password you use here... no one else, not even a channel Op, will be able to retrieve your password) and email is your e-mail address (any e-mail address will work... it could be the e-mail address you used to register here). After typing that one simple line, your nickname is now registered! No confirmation e-mail, no complicated stuff to do, no nothing. You're done. To log in and be recognized in the future, simply connect to the channel, type /nick <nickname> (to change your nickname to the one you registered - if necessary), and then type the following: /msg nickserv identify passwordWhere you replace password with the password you registered your nickname with. (This is the same password you chose above when you sent the registration command.) Now you're logged in and ready to go! ;D

Just so you know Subspace I have not forgotten about your chat channel but I just have to figure out if I have the programs and how to get hooked up... and I just don't have the time right now... but I really want to join and will as soon as I can! How is it going so far?

How is it going so far? You know - no sweat. So far there's been only one person online, ever - moi. I don't know... I'm thinking of scrapping it. Unless I can find some way of promoting it, I just don't see how we can get the awareness out...

What if you went over to the forums at the Jeannie Journal and over at TV Land to promote the chat channel? Maybe that would get more people interested in it... I think it's a great idea!

Maybe that would get more people interested in it... I think it's a great idea! I dunno. I thought it was a great idea too. Alright, I'll try some more and not 'blink' the channel away just yet! Where are the TV Land forums? I didn't know TV Land had forums... As for the Jeannie Journal, I just registered for an account and am awaiting approval. If you already have an account there could you spread the word there for me? By the by, I've heard of the 'clash' between Jeannie Journal and IDreamOfJeannieFans.Net... I want no part of such, in my opinion, pointless bickering between devout IDOJ fans, so I'll try to do my best to maintain a low profile on both places...
